Change, inexorable change

Alas, ads have come to warrior~poet. I've resigned myself to adding Google AdSense banners to most of the site. I was largely able to avoid disrupting the current layout while keeping them visible. Still, inviting foreign content onto its pages is vaguely unsettling. I don't want warrior~poet to follow countless other free websites to HTML Heaven; hence this move to offset the cost of keeping things up and running.

Way back when, I began publishing Mac OS X icons to showcase my designs. They would form the core of an online portfolio, I thought, and tantalize potential clients. They would give a new visual "voice" to the desktops of other GLBT Mac users and our straight allies. Both of those are moderately true, but I think people basically just like the free stuff. I like free stuff, too, so I'll continue publishing my designs at no cost for personal desktop use as best I can. Of course, if you'd like to help, you can visit advertisers that interest you or use the donation button on the main page.

Things began looking up today when, on the spur of the moment, I installed OS X on my ol' blue and white G3. I was only using it to play DVDs and CDs but it kept stalling for about thirty seconds at a time. Everything except music CDs would stop—menubar clock, mouse pointer, applications, everything—and then resume. It was happening more and more often, so watching a movie was impossible! Now, with OS X running, I've watched Queen of the Damned and Pirates of the Caribbean with mounting glee as minute after minute passed without a hitch!
