A woo woo week
The little ones were so thrilled about the results of their first egg graphics that they quickly produced another batch! They love the second round of results as much as the first, if not more. One guy in particular still bubbles with glee about how icky, squishy, and gross his egg looks!
Free Mojtaba and Arash Day appears to have had no impact. I didn't expect to see any. It's still important that we all speak up and be visible if we are to have any effect whatsoever on our world.
Years ago, when our children were younger still, their mother had a flash of inspiration. Each person in the house would take turns choosing the dinner menu! Not only would that ease things a bit for her, but the children could learn to plan good meals, try new food, and enjoy their favorites. They could swap turns, pool their ideas, or order out.
It's really worked out well. Although adults have the final say, vetoes are extremely rare. In the beginning, my partner and I were asked to "help pick" almost every night. We certainly got some imaginative requests. The search for "chocolate meat" introduced us to chocolate moles (sauces). Meals might be planned around a favorite color or particular shape. When the children were suspicious of a new food, it wasn't unusual for them to ask me whether it was okay. Omnivore that I am, I could generally convince them to at least try whatever it was.
I miss those days. Some little ones and even teens do sometimes ask for ideas, but more often we hear about their newest food discoveries. Last week one youngster could barely contain himself over what he'd found in an old cookbook: Spanish Woo Woo! He read the recipe to us, he read it to his mother, it sounded pretty good, so there was Woo Woo this week.
