Tag, I'm "it"

This autumn, CafePress will enable users to search tags/keywords that shopkeepers have added to their designs. The billions who have CafePress shops (like mine, JamieCo Design) are encouraged to add tags now.

The promise of bulk tagging tools is dangling before us, but even when those are available this is still the kind of work that some people actually do for a living. It takes a great deal of organization and planning and concentration to do well, so I admire them. I truly do. See, I don't mind indexing now and again but doing it full time would suck the life right out of me.

It isn't as bad as some of the soul-sucking positions I've held so I occupied a good part of the day with the tagging of images at CafePress. It was a first pass. No doubt I'll give this more attention another time.

Actually, indexing is on my mental list of things to add to warrior~poet. If you wanted a castle icon, for example, you could look up "castle" and see that there is a castle in Scheldes V and a castle tower in Scheldes III. Otherwise, how would you know? Oh wait, those two icons appear in the sets' preview images, but you get the idea.

I'm inclined to make it a traditional text index instead of a search feature. Still, people might not realize that "Index" doesn't refer to an index.html webpage. And I have 1,600 icons to index. Not today.
